FAQs
Do I need a mouthguard?
Anyone who participates in a sport that can result in an injury should wear a mouthguard. A mouthguard will typically cover the upper teeth and will cushion a blow to the face minimizing the risk of broken teeth and injuries to the soft tissues of the mouth. A custom-made mouthguard, like the Gladiator, is the only mouthguard recommended by dental professionals because of the quality, fit and comfort.
Which style of Gladiator mouthguard is best for me?
The Gladiator Pro is ideal for virtually all sports. The Gladiator Elite is for higher level competition or athletes who tend to prefer a more durable mouthguard. The Gladiator Junior is primarily for children who still have a majority of their primary or 'baby' teeth.
How long will my Gladiator mouthguard last?
All mouthguards should be checked regularly throughout the season for tears, distortion or bite-though. Frequency of replacement will depend on use and quality of care. A child's mouthguard should be replaced often as the loss of 'baby' teeth and growth of new teeth will lessen the effectiveness of the Gladiator due to improper fit.
What if my child has loose or missing teeth?
It is best to make the impression without the tooth. Our technicians will allow space for the new tooth to grow into. Adults with a loose tooth should see a dental professional before making the impression.
What's involved in the order process?
Place an online order for your custom mouthguard. Once your order is processed, you will receive your Gladiator kit within a few days. Follow the simple instructions and return your impression still in the tray to Sport Guard International. In about 7-10 days you will receive your customized Gladiator along with a protective storage case to keep your mouthguard clean and safe.
What if my child still has braces?
The Gladiator will fit over orthodontic equipment. Our technicians will be able to allow for some movement of the teeth; however, replacement of the mouthguard is recommended more often to ensure correct fit.
What if I wear a removable dental appliance (ex. dentures)?
Remove the denture or dental appliance before making the impression since playing with the prosthesis is not recommended.
