Impression Instructions
Making a good impression (an imprint of your teeth) is essential for Sport Guard International to manufacture your custom fit Gladiator mouthguard. We have enclosed enough impression material to make two impressions of your upper teeth. Sport Guard International recommends that you make two impressions and return both of them to us in the enclosed plastic bags. Our experts will determine which impression is better to use to make your custom mouthguard. If you should be unable to complete both of your impressions, you may send only one. Sport Guard International only needs one successful impression to produce your Gladiator mouthguard.

Before Making Your Gladiator Impressions
Read all instructions before beginning. The impression material will harden in 4-1/2 minutes after mixing. It is not necessary to rush; however, you must perform each step promptly.

Have someone present to assist you. If you are under the age of 18, you must have an adult present to help while you make your impression.

Don't try to make an impression if you have: loose teeth or fillings, gum disease, cuts or sores in your mouth.

If you wear braces, you must cover your braces with ortho-wax to protect them. Sport Guard International is not responsible for any damage done to braces while making an impression.

Do you have a prognothic bite (your lower jaw protrudes out past or further than your upper jaw)? In this case, you need to take an impression of your lower teeth only. This is where you need your protection or Gladiator mouthguard.

Remove any dentures or dental appliances before making the impression. Brush your teeth thoroughly. (Clean teeth will make a better impression.) Since you will be mixing the impression material in your hands, wash and dry your hands. (Be near a clock or watch with a second hand when making your impression.)

Step-By-Step Instructions
Read all instructions before starting impression. By following these easy instructions you will be able to successfully take your own impression of your upper teeth.

1. Each cup contains enough material for two impressions of your upper teeth. Take half the material from each of the containers. Roll and knead the two colors together in your hands until completely blended into one color. Now roll the material into a log approximately 4" long and slightly fatter in the middle.

2. Firmly press the log into the "U" shape of one of the impression trays. The material should be pushed to the outside of the tray (against the higher wall) and slightly into the holes in the bottom of the tray. It is okay if the some of the material is above the outer wall. This will allow your entire gum area to be included in the impression.

3. While leaning forward, place the filled impression tray into your mouth and position it gently over your upper teeth. With steady, firm pressure, push the tray as far up under your lip as possible. There should be approximately 1/4" of impression material between your teeth and the outer wall of the tray. DO NOT BITE down on the tray! The tray needs to remain still in your mouth. The less the tray moves on your teeth, the more successful the impression will be.

4. As the excess material flows over the top of the tray, use your fingers to push the material as far up on your gum, under your lip, as possible. Be sure to do this around the entire tray, not just in the front. Continue to be careful not to move the tray.

5. Allow the impression to set for two minutes and fifteen seconds with no movement.

6. Carefully, remove the tray with the impression from your mouth and rinse with warm, soapy water. DO NOT REMOVE THE IMPRESSION MATERIAL FROM THE TRAY. If the impression comes out of the tray, just send back the impression without the tray. Do not try to put the impression back in the tray. Doing so may damage or warp the impression.

7. Repeat the entire process for your second impression.

What to Do With Your Completed Impressions
1. Write your name clearly in the white area on the plastic bags provided. Place one impression in each of the bags and seal them closed.

2. Complete the enclosed order form. Place the order form and your impressions in the Priority Mail box supplied by Sport Guard International. If you are placing an individual order, simply put the box in the mail to Sport Guard International. If you are placing your order as part of a team, return your impressions and order form to your team coordinator.
